Hello again my friends!
So I realized that I should give you all the complete rundown of my trip plans. So you can see what all I will be doing, where I will be going, and how I will be getting there.
First, I will start with the route I will be taking. It took me a long time to come up with this. The idea was to be north during summer and south during winter. When I was trying to figure this out I kept winding up in Minnesota in December hehehe. But I eventually figured it out. So without further ado, here is my route:
Maine-New Hampshire-Vermont-Massachusetts-Rhode Island-Connecticut-New York-Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Delaware-Maryland-West Virginia-Ohio-Michigan-Indiana-Kentucky-Virginia-North Carolina-South Carolina-Georgia-Florida-Alabama-Mississippi-Louisiana-Arkansas-Tennessee-Missouri-Illinois-Wisconsin-Minnesota-Iowa-Nebraska-Kansas-Oklahoma-Texas-New Mexico-Colorado-Wyoming-South Dakota-North Dakota-Montana-Idaho-Utah-Arizona-Nevada-Oregon-Washington-Alaska-California-Hawaii
I am aiming to start May 1st of this year up in Maine. I will be staying 30 days in each state to take in as much of the state’s history and culture as possible. I will also be visiting a lot of the sites the states are famous for. The time I stay in each state is subject to change. Say if there is something I really want to do for instance. Then I may stay a little longer. Or if I accomplish all I set out to in the state then I may stay a little less (This will probably only happen with smaller states like Rhode Island or Delaware).
Also in each state, I will attempt to get a job related to what the state is famous for. If I can’t I will likely get an in-depth interview from someone who has one.
I am also working on a list of 50 things I’ve always wanted to do and will be doing one in each state. I will put up the list as soon as I finish it.
Along the way, I will be volunteering in each state to different causes. I want to make the world a better place where ever I go.
And of course you already know I will be filming the entire trip. I intend to turn it into a documentary series. I will be making a website down the road and posting videos on there and on YouTube.
So how will I be getting to where I am going?
Straight up backpacking. I am not taking a vehicle. However, I will be using Craigslist rideshare and if someone offers me a ride in the direction I’m heading I’ll probably take it. Why? Meet knew people and ADVENTURE! That’s why! 😀 Also if I need to get somewhere because of time constraints (i.e. cold weather moving in and moving further south). Travel will be any which way I can basically.
So where will I be staying?
I will likely be camping out a lot of the time. Which is great with me because again I have a degree in Wildlife Biology and will finally have time to hone my survival skills. However, I have joined couchsurfing.org and I will undoubtedly be staying with friends I know and friends I make along the way.
How am I funding my trip?
Well, the current plan is to save up a few thousand for emergencies. However, with work being fickle that number is shrinking, especially if I want to set out on May 1st. But I also intend to apply for jobs as a freelance travel writer to a lot of places shortly. Also I will be applying to have my first book published sometime next week. I have started to apply for sponsors as well. Finally, I will again be filming the trip and turning it into a documentary series. So I will either get a film company to support what I’m doing or self publish the series and offer the DVDs on the website I intend to create.
Is anyone going with you?
Currently, no. However, I would love to have a few people join me on my journey. If you would like to join me, send me an email explaining who you are, why you want to go with me on this trip, for how long, and what skills you have that would make you an asset to the trip (Filmmaking, photography, wilderness survival, ect).
Well, that’s all for now. I’ll update you as the plan unfolds.

Forever your friend,
