Today we join our hero on one of his many days off as of late. No doubt he has some interesting updates for us. Let’s listen in and see what he has to say.
Hello my friends,
It’s been awhile, eh? Well let me update you on all I’ve been up too and how I’m coming along preparing for my trip across America.
I ended up getting to work about two weeks, which was great because I could finally start hammering down my last student loan again. I’m officially starting the t-minus 10 weeks (minus 3 when I sell my truck) countdown. So basically if I can get 7 full weeks of work, I’ll have my last student loan paid off. I honestly can’t wait for that day. Ever want something so bad, it’s all you can think about? It’s probably one of the few reasons I haven’t been sleeping well. Since, I was given two weeks off of work. But then again I’ve always been a bit of an insomniac, my mind just won’t shut up at night 😉
Anyways, the last day I worked, it was with concrete and I hurt my back after shoveling it all day. Feels like I had a vertebrae shift and that my entire back needs cracked. I went to a chiropractor, but it didn’t really help. So getting going during my time off has been a bit hard, when you wake up everyday stiff and sore. Guess, I’ll have to start doing yoga again.
But I have been getting things done despite all of this. I’ve gotten my YouTube channel up and have started working on my first video. It’s basically going to be a history about me and what lead up to the trip. I’ve also started applying for copyright permissions to use songs in my videos. Music is going to play a big part in my show. And of course I’ve been applying for sponsors. Still haven’t heard anything back yet, but I’m hopeful. I try to apply at least once a day.
Work on my book is coming along. I finished reading Stephen King’s “On Writing” and took a lot of notes. I’m currently reading The Elements of Style by Strunk Jr. & E.B. White and taking notes. After I finish it, i’ll apply these notes to my book in the final edit and then start submitting for publication! 😀
I am also reading my sister’s book “Waiting on Justin”, if you get a chance, look it up on Amazon. It’s a great book and has many rave reviews. Also she has a goal of getting 5 more books out this year, the first should be coming out late March. So check out books by Lucy H. Delaney this year 🙂
I will be restarting my state research probably today. I’ll be working on Connecticut. So that is something to look forward too 🙂
So I’ve been taking advantage of the time off the best I can. Hopefully, work will pick up so I can finally be free of debt. I look forward to being able to breathe again without that weight-bearing down on me. Also work determines when I get to head out on my trip because I won’t leave until I am debt free and have the equipment I need. It’s looking more and more likely that I will have to push back the start date of the trip, much as I had my heart set on May 1st, unless a miracle happens, I don’t see it happening. But what’s a few weeks to a month for a lifetime of freedom and adventure?
As for the people I mentioned earlier who were thinking about joining me, I am uncertain on two of them. I’ve tried contacting them with updates and asked about their progress preparing for the trip, but have gotten no word back from them. One has responded to every question and update though, so if nothing else I’ve got one person I can count on, but more on my companions later. I’ll update you as I find out more.
I intend to try to get a website up for the trip this week. It will probably be one of the main ways I advertise the trip and help fund it. I’ll be selling T-shirts and the documentary series on the site. Just got to find some production companies to produce the dvds and a company to produce the T-shirts with my designs.
I’ll update you as more things unfold,
Forever your friend,
